The Future of Our Nation

Posted: August 9, 2015 in Uncategorized

If you think like me then it’s no secret that our Nation is really struggling right now.  We have key leaders in our country making decisions that do not line up with the Bible, Planned Parenthood is killing babies and selling their parts for money, our government seems to treat Isis better than Christians and the list could go on and on and on.  What is going to happen in the future? what is going to happen tomorrow? or the next day?  Cops killing people, people killing cops, people going into movie theaters and shooting, when will it end? What’s next?

One thing I know for sure is there are people leading our country that make decisions daily that affect our lifestyle.  What do we do for those leaders? We pray for them. It’s as simple as that.  Here is what I read this morning in 1 Timothy 2:1-2

First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way.

We are to simply pray for our leaders.  If you are like me I look at our leadership in the White House, our state and local leaders and I see no hope, but that’s where I completely failed God.  I feel like there is no hope for the leaders I see these days living contrary to how God calls us to live.  Then I realized that I had no hope myself, I knew about God, but I didn’t know God, until one day GOD got my attention, He called me to Himself and I responded accepting Jesus as my Savior.  The point I’m making here is no other person saved me, no other person changed me, no other person did anything in my life.  God did it! So for me to think God couldn’t change our President or any other leadership in this country is me basically saying that I don’t trust God to do what only He can do.  It may be tough because we may think it’s pointless or it won’t matter, but God does still sit on His throne and God still does what He wants.  Whose to say that leader you don’t like would never be changed by the Gospel? Pray that the Gospel will be shared with our leaders and God would do a supernatural work in their lives.  It may be hard, but do it anyway.

This lead me to what I read this afternoon in Habakkuk chapter 1.  Basically Habakkuk is asking God why He isn’t doing something about the evil he sees in the world.  He see’s destruction and violence daily. Verse 4 says the wicked surround the righteous: so justice goes forth perverted.  This sounds a lot like The United States of America.  Wickedness seems to be surrounding the righteous ones and the wicked are prospering.  I like Habakkuk ask why God, why? After Habakkuk asks why, God responds.

God says that He could tell Habakkuk what he has planned but he wouldn’t even believe it.  He’s going to raise up the Chaldeans, the wicked and violent people.  They are going to rule over Habakkuk and his people, but then God will have the final say. Justice will be served and God is the one who will hand out the punishment.

Basically the Chaldeans will raise up, they will do their own thing, they will defy God, but God will let them build their kingdom, but it’s only temporary. Their Kingdom will be destroyed.  Much like America today all of these kingdoms are being built up, there is no respect for God or His Word, but a day is coming when all of these kingdoms will be tore down and will not stand anymore.

Until this time, we Christians, have to constantly be the hands and feet of God.  We need to be serving others, putting the Gospel into action, not just sitting in a church seat or church pew listening to a pastor tell us what we need to do and then not do it.  We have to do work as Christians.  While we wait on Jesus to come back we need to be in constant prayer and also doing something.  Feeding and clothing the homeless, caring for orphans and widows, walking with people during their struggles, getting our hands dirty for the sake of the Gospel and for the love of people.  We can’t just go to church on Sundays and do nothing until the next Sunday.  DO SOMETHING NOW!!!

We may be waiting on God to do something about the evil in the world, but He is also waiting on us to do something in this world!
