What If?

I’ve been asking myself “What If” the past couple of days.  What I mean by “What If” is what if we trusted God throughout our whole lives like we trust him when we have hit rock bottom and have nothing left to do or anywhere left to turn? When we get to a point in our lives where we have to trust God, where we have to put our faith in Him 100%.  It seems to be a lot easier to trust when we are on empty and have exhausted all other things, but what if we had that same mentality when we face certain situations in our normal everyday life? What if we trusted God when our boyfriend/girlfriend breaks up with us, or there is a problem at work, or our kids aren’t acting like the angels in the commercials that bring us toilet paper when we run out?  What if we said ok God, you have my life, every part of it, and not just when I am desperate for you to move,  I mean you have the small situations, the big situations and everything in between.  I look back on my life and I think, what if I would have trusted God in this situation instead of my own strength, or what if I would have trusted God completely to handle someone that was causing my hair to turn grey a lot faster than I want it to? Instead, my mind thinks that this is something small, I can handle it, but often something small turns in to something large if we don’t turn to Jesus for help.

What about you? Do you only trust God when it’s the only thing we have left? Trusting God is often all we have left but in reality God tells us that we should trust Him first and then we would never have to figure out another way.  We are good at that aren’t we?  We place our lives on this game board and we roll the dice to see how many spaces we can go forward, and when we land on move two spaces back we get upset and mad at God.  Life isn’t a board game where we roll the dice and hope it works out for our good.   I believe life is more like a puzzle that God is putting together for us, but we tend to not let him work in our lives until we are desperate. If we would trust Him from the beginning He would put the puzzle pieces together in our lives a lot easier.

So what if you trusted God right now for everything in your life? How would it change?  Give it a try.  I bet you won’t be disappointed.
