Powerless or Powerful

In our sin we are powerless.  It’s simple – when we are wrapped up in the barbed wire mess of sin we have no power.  This is the reason Jesus came to earth, he put on skin and bone and lived like us, walked like us and died a death that we deserved. He came so that we would know Him personally.  We are powerless when it comes to our sin, but Jesus is all powerful. His strength is like no other.  He came to conquer sin and death and release us from sin and the one that has the power of death.

Hebrews 2:14-15 says this: Since therefore the children share in flesh and blood, he himself likewise partook of the same things, that through death he might destroy the one who has the power of death, that is, the devil and deliver all those who through fear of death were subject to lifelong slavery.

Without Jesus we are bound to a life of being a slave to sin.  It’s because of our sin Jesus came.  He came to give us life, eternal life and an abundant life here on earth in Him.  Without Jesus we are empty, broken vessels with no hope.  Jesus is everything in our lives.  He is the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, nobody comes through the Father except through Him!! Because Jesus came to die, we are given a gift, the gift of salvation and it is up to us whether or not we open that gift.  We choose to reject or accept everlasting life.  If we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior then we accept a life of being made holy, full of power by the Holy Spirit.  If we reject Jesus as our Lord and Savior then we accept a life of sin and being made slaves to sin, tangled up in darkness with no hope and no power.  Not only does Jesus defeat death, he defeats Satan and punches him in the mouth.  So when we reject Jesus we are saying we would rather hold on to a powerless, defeated devil, however, that same devil has all the power over your life.  When we accept Jesus we kick the devil while he’s down and follow Jesus, the One who has all the power and Victory!!

The choice is ours.  We are either on the winning team (Jesus) or the losing team (Satan). If we choose the losing team we are dominated by sin and death and Satan himself.  The winning team Jesus has dominated Satan, sin and death and we stand victorious in the light of His glorious salvation.  Seems like an easy choice to me.  Choose Jesus – He did it all for you.
