Leaders, Life and Faith

Hebrews 13:7 says remember your leaders those who spoke to you the word of God. Consider the outcome of their way of life, and imitate their faith (ESV). Who is it that has spoken the word of God into your life? Can you recall a time back in vacation bible school where Brother Jeff taught you the Bible? Or maybe it was Mrs. Cindy that taught you in Sunday school that did her best teaching you and helping  you understand what God’s word means.  Maybe it has been someone recent that you have been talking to.  Either way, as Christians we have had someone at some point speak the word into our lives.  Whether it be a few years or a few days, someone has said “hey, here’s what the Bible says.” (say that in your best Uncle Si voice Jack!!)

So, think of that person that has spoken into your life or is now speaking.  That person is a leader, because whether you know it or not, they have been leading you.  So according to what the scripture says we are to remember those leaders and consider the outcome of their way of life.  Think of their life now, are they in a good place spiritually? Some of you may say, “well, Bro. Jeff isn’t doing well right now, or Mrs. Cindy doesn’t even have anything to do with church anymore.” That is ok, they played a key role in your life pointing you to Jesus.  I bet you can think of someone that was a leader then and is still a leader now who’s life would be a great life to imitate.  I can think of one man who was a key person in my life and still is a key person in my life.  He is a leader, his life is in a great place spiritually and with his family, and he is a great person of faith to imitate.  The Bible says we are to remember those key leaders and imitate their faith.  Who has been your leader? Have you told them what they mean to you? Pray for them, tell them what God has done in your life and how much of a role they played.  Most importantly, imitate their faith.
